Biogas plant at San Ramón Farm (Requena, Valencia)

At San Ramón Farm, a biogas plant was installed to use the manure from the farm’s animals.

SAN RAMÓN FARM

This system allows, by means of a biomethanisation process, or anaerobic digestion, the production of biogas which is used to generate electricity. The manure is automatically collected from the animal houses and pumped to the plant itself. In addition to its own manure, other materials are introduced for co-digestion. This increases process efficiency and also indirectly reduces the impact of other activities on the environment.

Genia Bioenergy closed the agreement to operate San Ramón Group biogas plant in 2023.

Located in the Valencian municipality of Requena, this anaerobic digestion plant is equipped with:

  • A primary digester with a piston flow type of 800m³.
  • A secondary complete mix type digester with a capacity of 2,200 m³.

For the production of biogas from cattle manure and slurry, which is valorised in a cogeneration engine with 500kW generating capacity.

The plant has a hall for waste reception and digestate composting.

It also has an electrical switchboard room, a technical room for pumping and heating, as well as offices and a laboratory, equipped with toilets.

Relevant data:

  • Digester 1: 800 m³.
  • Digester 2: 2,200 m³.
  • Cogeneration engine: 500 kW.
  • Annual waste: 30,000 tonnes/year (vegetable waste and cow slurry).

In addition to reducing the impact of effluents, a number of effects are achieved:

  • Reduction of CO2 emissions by reducing methane emissions.
  • Management of own or external agri-food waste in co-digestion.
  • Generation of electricity from a renewable source.
  • Thermal energy generation by cogeneration.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Project goals

  • Project based on Circular Economy.
  • Decarbonisation of its productive model.
  • Optimal management of its Organic Waste, through the transformation of waste from the meat and dairy industries, and other vegetable waste, into Renewable Energy.
  • Regulatory compliance.

The time has come to make Biomethane!
